Matt’s love for the law started early, while working in his law school’s family and criminal law clinic, providing free legal help to those who needed it most. His passion for writing was sparked there, too—eventually leading to a Florida Bar essay selected as a model answer for future bar exam prep materials.
He earned his law degree from Washburn University School of Law and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Northern Iowa, while also receiving the Pathways to Success Student Leadership Award—a hint at the standout attorney he would become.
Matt is a member of the Florida Bar, its Family Law Section, a past ad hoc member of a family law rule subcommittee, a past member of the Canakaris American Inn of Court, and a contributor to the Hillsborough County Bar Association Lawyer Magazine. In 2017, he was named to his firstSuper Lawyers Rising Star, a distinction reserved for the top 2.5% of young attorneys in Florida.
When he's not breaking down case law or crafting compelling legal arguments, Matt is diving into autobiographies, binging documentaries, or catching a live concert. He’s a baseball fanatic on a mission to visit every MLB stadium—20 down, 10 to go. You’ll also find him in full fan mode on Saturdays cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
